NBC pledges to provide level ground for all stakeholders

Abuja – The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), has pledged to continue to provide level playing field for all stakeholders to ensure the success of the Digital Switch-Over (DSO) in the country.

The Director-General of the Commission, Malam Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, made the pledge in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

Kawu said that the NBC was determined to complete the process of digitisation to the satisfaction of the Nigerian people.

“Since my assumption of office as the Director General of the NBC, I have made a concerted effort to meet different stakeholders of our industry as well as the public of the NBC.

“I want to assure all our stakeholders of the commitment of the National Broadcasting Commission to continue to provide the level playing field for the resolution of problems that might arise in the process of the DSO.

“ We are on the course of history and we are determined to complete the process to the satisfaction of the Nigerian people, “ Kawu said.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to the digitisation process.

Kawu said that the president’s inspired leadership was behind the drive to ensure that Nigeria did not miss the DSO deadline of June 2017.

He said that Pinnacle Communications Ltd. would serve as the signal distributors for the next phase of the DSO in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Recently, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, also assured that the Federal Government would roll out digital switchover in the FCT in October.

Mohammed gave the assurance when he featured at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum recently in Abuja.
