Port Harcourt – Funky 4, a Port Harcourt based Entertainment Group, made up of four professionals on Tuesday said that they implore comedy to correct societal ills.
Mr Tekena Iyalla, the Director of Finance of Funky 4 said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the group talks about serious issues affecting the society in a subtle manner and tune by bringing life into them through comedy.
Iyalla stated that Funky 4 was mainly a rib-cracking entertainment programme designed to enlighten people.
“We try to see how we can play our own role in terms of correcting some societal anxieties and ills in the country at large.
“We talk about political, economic and social issues in a comedy form unlike on the regular Television and Radio programmes where people discuss and argue.
“We do it in a subtle way so that when people are listening to us as we are passing the message, they see the humour in the message,” he said.
Iyalla said that Funky 4 had existed for 12 years and now had a followership of more than five million in Rivers and South-South at large.
He said that the group entertains people with rib-cracking programmes and had contributed immensely to the improvement of the industry in Rivers.
Iyalla said there were many opportunities in the industry for the youth to make a career, and stressed the need for the government to support the industry.
