JOS – The management of Mighty Jets FC of Jos on Monday commended Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau State for uniting the people of the state through sports.
Jets made the commendation in a statement issued by its Media Officer, Ferdinand Mbum.
“The decision by the governor to particularly sponsor Mighty Jets, the 1972 Nigeria top-flight champions, had helped the club to be in contention for promotion to premier league.
“Mighty Jets are currently second on the log of the Nigerian National League (NNL) Group A, courtesy of the governor’s support,’’ it said.
The club in the statement congratulated the Plateau United FC of Jos for winning the State Federation’s Cup.
It urged the Plateau United and the runners-up Giwa FC also of Jos to work hard to represent Plateau well at the national finals.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Plateau United on Sunday defeated Giwa on penalties to lift the state version of the trophy.
Based on the Federation’s Cup tradition, both clubs that reached the state finals will represent the state at the national level.
Mighty Jets had last Saturday lost 1-0 to Plateau United in the second semi-final of the Federation’s Cup. (NAN)
