Abuja – The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has appealed to Nigerians to support the Federal Government in its efforts to restore discipline and fight against corruption to enhance economic prosperity in the country.
The group made the appeal in a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, on Monday in Abuja.
“The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria appeals to Nigerians to give the present administration a chance on restoration of discipline and fight on corruption for future economic prosperity for Nigeria.
“We call on all Nigerians irrespective of their status to support the anti-corruption fight without minding those criticising the anti-corruption posture of Buhari Administration.
“With the return of monies to the covers of Federal Government by top public servants, Nigerians should now be convinced that corruption affects all sections of the Nigerian Society.’’
The group appealed to the federal government not to delay the payment of entitlements of the retired security servicemen at all levels that have contributed their quota to national development.
“The killing of Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu-Ali by Boko Haram terrorists last Friday is a sad development.
“This incident should convince President Muhammadu Buhari that `The Battle’ is yet to be won.’’
The group saluted the bravery, gallantry, dedication and commitment of late Ali which, noting that it earned him special promotion last year.
“We implore officers and men of the military not to be psychologically depressed by the unfortunate incident but to renew their commitment to the service of the nation by fighting gallantly to exterminate Boko Haram in its entirety.
“We also appeal to the Federal Government not to delay the payment of entitlements of the warlord Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu-Ali to his dependants and indeed same for all the fallen heroes regardless of their ranks.
“This development has brought into focus the delay in payment of entitlements of retired Military, Police, Customs, Immigrations and indeed Public Officers at all levels that have contributed their quota to national development.’’
Besides, the group urged government at all levels to promptly address the plight of military or civil pensioners in the country.
