LOKOJA – The Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, on Monday said that it would encourage four of its doctors recently suspended for professional misconduct to appeal against the decision.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Debo Eleshin, told newsmen in Lokoja that the management was convinced that the doctors would get relief at the Court of Appeal.
He said that the aim was to safeguard the integrity of the hospital and restore public confidence in it.
Eleshin said that the hospital was the best in quality services and patients’ welfare in Kogi State and its environs.
The Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council Tribunal on Sept. 4 banned the doctors from practice for periods ranging from three to six months.
According to the tribunal, the doctors’ negligence led to the death of a woman and her baby.
The affected doctors are Temitayo Onile, Charles Nnana, Musa Ochala and Tayo Akinro. [eap_ad_1] However, Eleshin, said that the doctors observed the best practices in the handling of the case, adding that it was unfortunate that the woman and the baby died.
