Enugu – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, has commended Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his efforts to develop the state and for ensuring peaceful co-existence among its residents.
PDP chairman, Enugu State Chapter, Chief Augustine Nnamani, made the commendation on Saturday in Enugu in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that members of the party in the state had unanimously passed vote of confidence on the governor for his `outstanding achievements.’
Nnamani said: “Gov. Ugwuanyi is doing well to everybody’s admiration even those in the opposition party.
“The party is not surprised by the BudgIT’s report, since Ugwuanyi’s administration has maintained a culture of financial discipline that has helped his administration to save cost.
“Such financial prudence has ensured that the state’s lean resources are adequately utilised for priority projects that will add value to the lives of the people of the state.
“The party urges the governor to remain focus and steadfast in his vision to advance good governance in Enugu State and deliver on his campaign promises to the people in line with the PDP manifesto.’’
Nnamani noted that for Enugu State to be listed alongside Lagos and Rivers as the three states in Nigeria still able to meet their recurrent needs and obligations is an indication of Ugwuanyi’s commitment to the wellbeing of the people.
NAN recalls that a report recently published by BudgIT, a data-simplifying civic organisation, stated that 33 out of the 36 states of the federation are unable to fulfill recurrent obligations.
The report identified Enugu, Lagos and Rivers States as the only three states still able to meet their recurrent needs.
