Ibadan – The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Mr Moses Adeyemo, has commended the military for efforts in restoring peace to the North-East and the entire country.
Adeyemo gave the commendation in Ibadan on Sunday during the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration.
The deputy governor said the military needed to be celebrated because of their contributions to ensure
peace and stability in the nation.
“We need to continually take care of the children of the departed souls, their widows, parents and other family members they left behind.
“We must not let them suffer because they have suffered untimely deaths for their loved ones.”
In his remark, Mr Michael Olagunju, the Chairman, Nigeria Legion, Oyo State chapter, urged the Federal Government to make the welfare of the military at the war front a priority to serve as a morale booster.
Olagunju advised government not to neglect the families of those gallant officers who paid the supreme price for the stability of the nation, “which everyone is now enjoying.”
Those present at the celebration were Maj. – Gen. Matins Abraham, General Officer Commanding, 2 Division Nigeria Army (GOC), Ibadan, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi, Air Commander Emmanuel Akinbayo, Nigerian Air force Detachment, Ibadan, among others.
Highpoint of the occasion was the offering of prayers for the departed soldiers, laying of wreaths, inspection of guard of honour and release of ceremonial peace balloons.
