Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Garba Abari has urged religious leaders and adherents to uphold the religious teachings of peace by mobilizing the faithful to remain law abiding and peaceful.
In a statement signed by the Special adviser to the Director General, David Akoji and sent to Sundiata Post, Abari called on political leaders to call their youthful followers to order so as to stop the senseless killings in communities around the country, stressing that peace is essential for meaningful development.
The NOA boss observed that Nigeria is a cohesive society united by years of collective history
and marked by common aspirations among people of all tribes and religions.
“We must not bequeath a legacy of hate and religious intolerance to generations yet unborn but a legacy of love for one another and being each other’s keeper as handed down to us by our heroes past”, he said.
Abari said religious leaders and politicians have a great role to play in stemming the tide of intolerance among communities, describing intolerance as alien to the hospitable disposition of the generality of Nigerians.
He therefore urged religious and political leaders to prevail on their followers to uphold the sanctity of human lives and promote peace at all times, adding that unity and patriotism will get Nigeria out of its present challenges.
