Lagos Govt. Deploys Technology To Connect Better With Citizens

Lagos –   The Lagos State Government on Monday flagged-off its Citizens Relations Management (CRM) Portal as part of efforts to communicate with the citizenry faster and smarter.

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State while flagging-off the portal said the e-governance initiative would enhance connectivity between the citizens and the state government.

Ambode, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Idiat Adebule, said the platform would help the government deliver the dividends of democracy and serve the people better.

“The essence of our being in government is to represent and serve the people and the people’s contribution is essential to planning and running of government.

“The CRM portal will help us to relate better with the people. Their complaints, inquiries, challenges, commendations and suggestions will help government to improve on it policies and projects,’’ he said.

Also, Mr Tons Otusanya, Director-General, Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, said that e-governance would make communication between government and the people faster and smarter.

Otunsanya said it would also make governance more inclusive and transparent, adding that these were the reasons the state government decided to deploy it

The state’s Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Olufemi Odubiyi, said that the government embraced the use technology to drive an all-inclusive government in the state.

He urged residents to utilise the platform to reach out to the government.

In his remarks, Mr Sanni Eniola, Consultant of the CRM initiative, explained that residents could interact with government via web and mobile phone.

He said access to the portal was simplified, assuring the citizens that any complaint they raised via the portal would be directed to the right quarters and given the appropriate response.
