Enugu – The National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has lauded Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu for giving youths sense of belonging in the governance of the state.
The state’s Chairman of the council, Mr Henry Atigwe, said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday.
Atigwe commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for his youth-friendly policies and programmes as well as inclusion in various decision making bodies in the state.
“Gov. Ugwuanyi has given us a sense of belonging in governance.
“The governor’s disposition to issues that affect young people in the state has given us a sense of belonging and confidence in his administration,’’ he said.
According to him, young people have never had it as good in the history of governance in Enugu State as the state executive council currently is constituted by 95 per cent of young people.
He said that the youth body would continue to liaise with government and relevant agencies to give the youth a sense of belonging through campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
“NYCN is urging young people to take advantage of the various skills acquisition programmes in the state for self-employment and empowerment.
“We are also encouraging youths to engage in agriculture and entrepreneurship in other to create jobs and curb youth restiveness in the society,’’ he said.
