KAFINHAUSA (Jigawa) – Alhaji Bako Tamballe, the Chairman, Kafinhausa Local Government Council in Jigawa has pledged a handsome reward to any community leader that records the highest number of children immunised against polio virus in the on-going immunisation.
Tamballe, who made the pledge on Sunday,while monitoring the exercise in kafinhausa, said the reward would motivate community leaders to mobilise the people to accept the polio vaccine. [eap_ad_1] Tamballe explained that the council had provided 180 cartons of candies to woo parents into presenting their children for immunisation.
He said the council had also engaged community and religious leaders to mobilise people and ensure full participation in the exercise.
Also commenting, the Manager, National Programme on Immunisation (NPI) in charge of Kafinhausa, Malam Abdullahi Sarawa, said that about 80, 000 children in the area, were expected to be immunised against the wild polio virus.
Sarawa said that the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) had supplied 88, 000 doses of Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) for the smooth conduct of the exercise. (NAN)
