Abuja – The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged workers to take advantage of available low cost medical services to get tested for early detection of cancerous diseases.
Dr Garba Abari, the NOA Director-General said this on Monday in a statement signed by Mr Paul Odenyi, Head, Press Unit of the Agency.
He decried the increasing rate of sudden death among public servants, attributing it to lateness in going to hospital or the outright lack of it.
Abari said that only a healthy workforce could effectively drive the policy of government.
He urged public servants to take advantage of the health services covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), for regular medical examination for early detection of cervical, breast and prostate cancers among others.
Abari therefore urged NHIS enrolees to promptly report to the NHIS cases of service denial by healthcare providers for health services covered by the scheme using the NHIS Call Centre numbers.
He said that the agency in conjunction with (NHIS) and Managed Healthcare Services (MHS) Limited would soon embark on sensitisation programme on early detection of cancer for public servants in Abuja.
