Minna – The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Maj.-Gen. Adeniyi Oyebade, has called for the support of communities in the fight against cattle rustling and kidnapping in the country .
Oyebade made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday.
He said that vital information from communities would assist security personnel to deal with the problems once and for all.
“We have succeeded in confronting this bad elements holistically through our various forms of security method put in place in the last two years.
“We have recovered over 6,000 dangerous arms from bandits in the last two years in the North-West, “he said.
The GOC said that the army in collaboration with other security agencies would continue to put in place measures to end cattle rustling and banditry in the country.
He also solicited the support of traditional rulers and other stakeholders in sensitising rural dwellers to the need to report bad elements in their midst to security agencies.
He said that would help security personnel to flush out criminals from the country.
“All we require from members of the public is intelligence information that will assist our team of security personnel deployed for the operation,” Oyebade said.
