KANO – The Federal Road Safety Commission in Kano has begun its “Ember Months Safety Campaign”, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Malam Kabiru Daura, the Public Relations Officer of the Commission in Kano, made this known in an interview with NAN correspondent on Thursday.
Daura said that the commission started the campaign because the travel season had already begun and the use of roads had greatly increased.
According to him, although the campaign has not been officially launched, the commission decided to embark on the awareness creation at motor parks early to ensure the internalisation of the messages. “We mobilise drivers, passengers and car owners to remind them of safety measures, especially during the “Ember Months” when travel rates are on the increase.” Daura said.
While waiting for the formal launch, the Commission reminded road users of their right to safety, especially during the period.
It advised motorists to avoid over loading and over speeding on the high ways to safeguard their safety and that of other road users.
The Federal Road Safety Commission usually embarks on a special campaign during the “Ember” months because it is a busy period when the use of roads increases. (NAN)
