Lagos – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday in Badagry, Lagos, paraded five foreigners suspected to be pipeline vandals.
The NSCDC paraded the suspects together with 55 drums, each of which contained 250 litres of diesel.
The event took place at the corps’s Badagry District Headquarters, Lagos.
Mr Tajudeen Balogun, Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, said at the event that the corps arrested the suspects at 6.00a.m. on Tuesday at Gberefu Sea Beach – a village in Badagry.
Balogun identified the suspects as citizens of Republic of Benin, saying that investigation was ongoing to unveil their collaborators.
He said that the agency was working in collaboration with other security agencies to protect lives and property.
“First of all, NSCDC is doing its job the way it should be done. We are working with other security agencies to curtail criminality to the barest minimum,” Balogun said.
He urged Badagry residents to provide the NSCDC with useful information to track criminals destroying the nation’s assets.
“Security is everybody’s job; we should save our country from these people because they are economic saboteurs.
“Now, we will go back to the drawing board and restrategise to fight crime to the barest minimum.
“We promise the public that information giving to us will be treated with seriousness,” the commandant said.
He applauded the state government for providing the corps with utility vehicles and gadgets to facilitate its operations.
