Kaduna – The Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), on Saturday said young Nigerians must imbibe the culture of integrity, transparency and accountability in order to chart a prosperous future for the nation.
Chairman of the commission, Ekpo Nta, made the remark in Kaduna during the National Anti- Corruption Debate Competition for Secondary Schools.
Nta who was represented by Kingsley Obi a Chief Superintendent in the commission, said the commission was mobilising young Nigerians to be in the vanguard of the anti corruption war in the country.
He said that the aim was to encourage young Nigerians “not only to imbibe the culture of integrity, transparency and accountability but also ensure its institutionalization especially in the education sector.”
The chairman said that the commission was working to form students anti corruption vanguard in tertiary institutions, anti-corruption clubs in secondary schools, and the infusion of the National Value Curriculum in had developed for all levels of education.
On the debate, Nta said it was designed to engage youth to participate actively in the anti corruption crusade and stimulate academic discourse that would provide answers to issues of corruption from youth perspective.
He said that youth in secondary schools were part of the intellectual discourse meant to proffer solution to corruption in the society.
” It is to encourage non violent revolution against corruption,” he added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that eight senior secondary schools participated in the debate.
Tafawa Balewa Memorial Commercial Collage Samaru Kataf came first followed by Government Senior Secondary School, Gadan Gayan and Government Senior Secondary School Fadan Kaje in second and third position respectively.(NAN)
