Enugu – The Enugu State Police Command, has arrested three suspected robbers, who inflicted injuries on their victims with dangerous items.
The dangerous items recovered from the suspects included, matchetes, daggers, clubs amongst others.
The spokesman of the command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, made the announcement in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday in Enugu.
Amaraizu said the suspects and other members of their gang at large, had been a torn on the flash of motorists on Awka-Ugwuoba-Oji-River road and its environs.
He said the suspects were arrested on Aug. 5 in their hideout at Gariki Ugwuoba by police operatives acting on intelligence.
He gave the names of the suspects: as Sale Haruna, Emmanuel Ephraim and Uduku Sampson.
“The Enugu State Police Command has renewed its onslaught against crime and criminality to ensure safe and secured environment in the state.
“On Aug. 5, operatives of the command in a coordinated raid of suspected criminal hideout in Oji River Division, rounded up and nabbed three identified members of a robbery gang.
“The gang had been a torn on the flesh of motorists along Ugwuoba/Awka/Oji River Road; Enugu-Onitsha Expressway by Ugwuoba axis and Oji River general area.
“The suspects with other members of their gang still at large are being searched for by police operatives.
“Members of the ganf have robbed and inflicted matchetes and dagger injuries on motorists and commuters,’’ he said.
Amaraizu said the suspects are assisting the police in their investigations of their nefarious activities. (NAN)
