LAGOS – The Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Lagos chapter on Saturday urged Nigerians to have the fear of God as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Mr Mussodiq Sanni, the chapter chairman, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Sanni said that majority of the challenges being faced in the country today, especially corruption, poverty and insecurity would be a thing of the past; if Nigerians truly feared God.
“My message to Nigerians this Salah is that we should be conscious of God.
“Both Muslims and Christians acknowledge that Abraham is the father of our faith and so we should follow his example.
“So in anything that has been assigned to us to do, we should do it with the knowledge that God is watching us and that we are accountable to Him.
“Sanni also enjoined Nigerian leaders to show more transparency in governance and to carry the people along in their policy making. [eap_ad_1] “We just celebrated our 54th Independence as a nation but things have not gone too well for us because of lack of transparent leadership.
“There was more transparency while we were under our colonial masters and a lot of infrastructures were put in place across the country,” he added.
On his part, Prince Bisi Yusuf, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho Constituency 2, sued for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
Yusuf called for a change of attitude to governance by Nigerian leaders, adding that this would make the country a better place. (NAN)
