Osogbo – The police on Wednesday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Edeh Nwokedi
in an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with theft of N25,000.
Nwokedi is facing a three-count charge of theft, conspiracy and assault.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Ajayi, told the court that the accused committed the offense on Sept. 10 at about 9.50 a.m at Balogun Agoro area in Osogbo.
Ajayi said the accused conspired with one person at large to attack Kinsley Chukwu by assaulting him and also stealing his N25,000.
He added that the offence contravened sections 516, 355, and 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty and the Defence Counsel, Jimmy Jones, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Sodamade Fatima, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in the like sum.
Fatima said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with evidence of tax payments and two passport sized photographs attached with an affidavit of means.
She then adjourned hearing in the case until Oct. 10.
