Lagos domestic terminal 1 records 1 million passengers in 8 months – FAAN

IKEJA – The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on Wednesday, said it recorded one million passengers who passed through its Domestic Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, between January and August 2014. This is contained in a statement signed by the authority’s General Manager, Corporate Communication, Mr Yakubu Dati, in Lagos.

Dati said that the terminal had become passenger’s choice after its remodeling.

He added that a breakdown of the figure showed that a total number of 507,542 passengers arrived at the terminal, while 500,281 departed from the terminal during the period under review. [eap_ad_1] “During the first quarter of 2014, a total of 265,142 passengers arrived through the domestic terminal, while 258,845 passengers departed from it.

“The second quarter of 2014 witnessed a total number of 241,436 departing passengers and 242,400 arriving passengers.’’

Dati predicted that the figure could rise in the last quarter of 2014, adding that three new domestic airlines had concluded plans to commence operations in October.

He noted that “the quantum of economic activities generated has translated into more jobs and wealth creation.

“This is not only at the Lagos Airport, but also at other remodeled airports under the President Goodluck Jonathan Aviation Transformation programme.’’

The general manager said that the attraction of airlines to the terminal could not be over emphasized, pointing out that 12,564 aircraft movements were recorded at the terminal during the periods being review.

“A breakdown of the figure shows that a total of 6,198 aircraft arrived at the terminal, while 6,366 departed from it.

“During the first quarter, the terminal recorded a total number of 6,508 aircraft movements.

“During the second quarter of the period under review, the terminal recorded a total of 6,056 aircraft movements.’’ (NAN)
