ABUJA – The police on Thursday arraigned an Abuja-based businessman, Gabriel Abimukwu, in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court Abuja, for alleged impersonation.
The prosecutor, SP Chijioke Okezie told the court that the accused was facing a three-count charge of criminal breach of trust, cheating and impersonation.
Okezie said the accused of no fixed address, committed the alleged offences on Sept. 20.
He said the accused introduced himself to the complainant, Uche Nwokoye as a staff of Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA). [eap_ad_2] Okezie further told the court that the accused collected N13.5 million from Nwokoye under false pretext that he would help him get a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory.
The prosecutor however, said that the accused neither delivered the plot of land nor returned the money.
He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 312, 322 and 132 of the Penal Code law.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate, Mr Aliyu Shafa granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Shafa ruled that the sureties, who must be public servants not below Grade Level 8, must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter till Dec 15 for hearing(NAN) [eap_ad_3]
