Abuja – A 28-year-old security man, Ibrahim Nurah, was on Tuesday arraigned at a Karu, Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing water closet and other building materials belonging to one Suleiman Burma.
The defendant is facing a count charge of theft to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, E.O Ochaiyi, told the court that the complainant, Suleiman Burma of Gwarimpa, Abuja, reported the case at the Nigeria Police Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Abuja on July 20.
He said that the defendant was a security guard employed by the complainant to guard his site at Guzape District in Abuja.
Ochaiyi said that the complaint visited his site at Guzape District, Abuja, on a routine check on the security guard and to take inventory of his building materials and other equipment.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant discovered that his truck battery, General split A/C, 8 unit wood, water closet, 8 wash hand basins, 6 bundles of 2.5mm wires, and other items, whose value were unknown, were stolen.
The prosecutor said that during police interrogation, the defendant could not give satisfactory information on the where about of the materials.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 289 of the Penal Code.
The Magistrate, Abdulmajid Oniyangi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N28, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 10 for hearing.
