AKURE – Bishop Gabriel Akinbiyi of the Akoko Anglican Diocese, Ondo State, on Monday advised legal practitioners in the state to always make fairness the hallmark of their service to humanity.
Akinbiyi gave the advice during the church service to commence the 2014/2015 Legal Year held at St. David’s Cathedral, Akure.
The clergyman urged all lawyers not to favour any party involved in any case.
“Representation of any individual or group of individuals shouldn’t be dictated by money or influence of people in positions of power. [eap_ad_2]
“Court officials should be fair and not maltreat anyone in need of court services.
“Judges in positions of authority must always give thorough and truthful judgments, they must not condemn anyone indiscriminately,” he said.
Akinbiyi urged all legal practitioners to imbibe the culture of balancing in their services.
Also, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State tasked the lawyers to always put the fear of God first in order to be able to discern the truth from falsehood.
Mimiko, represented by Mr Tunde Atere, his Commissioner for Natural Resources, rated the State Judiciary high, adding that they are performing excellently well. (NAN) [eap_ad_3]
