An important lesson to be learned from the macabre dance of shame we are witnessing in the Maina-Buhari corruption-laden reinstatement scandal is that we must never tolerate condescending behaviour from anybody, no matter what. It’s not a sign of humility to let anyone disrespect you for any reason whatever, and get away with it. Such acceptance often emboldens the oppressor. Not only that, onlookers often see your acceptance of trashy behaviour as an invitation to replicate the same offensive acts.
Nigerians are no longer in doubt that Buhari is determined to run an utterly shameless, inept government never seen before. Particularly ridiculous is his penchant for attributing every failing of his government, so shamelessly to Jonathan. Not only does he have ABSOLUTE DISDAIN for the previous government, he also publicly invites and cajoles others to do same.
One would have thought that successfully hounding another out of power using a well-funded propaganda machinery, stage-managed abductions, homegrown insurgencies and exaggerated corruption allegations, would have been enough, but NO! This is the highest form of ARIRI. Mind you, Buhari doesn’t do this to Obasanjo, or any other political leader that has the capacity to engage in a retaliatory pig dance in the mud. He is able to do this because Jonathan will always preach peace and walk away from drama.
Lesson: Stay far away from drama, but if someone brings drama to your doorstep, make sure you let them have an overdose of the sour taste of their own folly.
This is an angry post!
