ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – A former member of the House of Representatives from Bauchi State, Alhaji Sani Toro, has assured the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) of victory as the national chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming national convention of the party.
The party chieftain, who described Gbenga as an outstanding contender, expressed confidence in the capacity of OGD to lead the party.
Alhaji Toro made this remark on Friday while addressing newsmen in Bauchi during the visit of Otunba Daniel to party delegates and stakeholders in the state.
He assured him that having won elections and governed a state for eight years, Gbenga Daniel was better equipped than others vying for the position with him.
Toro, therefore, admonished the former governor to reach out to his colleague former governors and current governors since they hold powerful positions in the party.
Similarly, chieftains and members of the oarty in Bauchi State have thrown their weight behind the candidacy of Otunba Daniel, assuring him of their support at the December 9 Convention.
The state deputy chief of the party, Alhaji Garba Dahiru, made the declaration while welcoming the campaign entourage of Otunba Daniel the state.
“The aspiration of Gbenga Daniel will be a smooth sail since we are aware that PDP will be safe in his hands and we are confident that the party will be delivered in your care, Dahiru said.
Dahiru said “When we get to Abuja on December 9, ultimately it is going to be OGD. No candidate has been here, just you. You are in safe hands; I can assure you Bauchi State is with you.”
In his remarks, Otunba Daniel thanked members of the party for standing firm when others left as a result of the tsunami, assuring party faithful that their dedication will not be in vain.
Gbenga Daniel, who said that the PDP was responsible for virtually all the development across the country, noted that Nigerians have come to realise the mistake in electing the ruling APC and ready to support the PDP.
He admonished members of the party in the state to walk the streets proud with their shoulders high because of the feat of PDP.
