Abuja –   Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property, Mr Okoi Obono-Obla, has lauded two newly-promoted police officers attached to the panel for their professionalism and patriotism.

The officers are: Tahir Usman and Ofem Arikpo, who are among the 165 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) that were recently promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).

Usman and Arikpo serve as investigators in the panel.

The Spokesperson of the panel, Lucie-Ann Laha, told newsmen that the two officers were instrumental to the recent recovery of 86 luxury vehicles, four houses and a quarry plant from a civil servant in Abuja.

Speaking at a brief ceremony in honour of both men in Abuja on Monday, Obono-Obla saluted their “courage, commitment and dedication to their work’’.

He said, “These officers have shown exceptional abilities and distinction, courage, commitment and dedication to their work and above all, patriotism.

“So, I’m not surprised that they have been promoted. They are among the finest crop of officers the Nigeria Police Force has and I am very certain that they will go places.

“ On behalf of Mr President, who gave us this assignment, I urge them to continue to put in their best in the work.’’

The chairman, who doubles as Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Prosecution, also lauded other members of the committee for their “rare show of commitment and patriotism’’.

Describing them as rare breeds, Obono-Obla said the panel had achieved a lot even when funds had not been released to it for the discharge of its assignment.(NAN)
