Ikeja – A 28-year-old sales representative, Temitope Adefioye, who allegedly stole her employer’s N725,000, was on Thursday hauled up before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Adefioye, who resides at Ijaiye area of Lagos State, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 6, at Meiran Road, Alagbado, Lagos.
He said that the accused stole N725, 000 from Rab Oil Filling Station, which was discovered when an audit was conducted at the station.
“When she was asked about the missing money, she could not give any satisfactory answer about it.
“The case was reported to the police and the accused was immediately arrested for further questioning,” he said.
Ayorinde said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Section 287 stipulates three years imprisonment for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mr O.J Awope, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Awope said the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until Feb. 19 for mention.
