BENIN – Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Friday in Benin said that his administration was committed to the development of the state.
Oshiomhole said this when he received some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Igueben Local Government Area of the state, who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He said that his administration had carried out development projects such as roads, provision of pipe-borne water and quality education.
The governor, however, noted that no one government could fix the problems of any state.
Oshiomhole said that for democracy to flourish, the citizenry had to stand up for their rights and resist opression.
He commended the defectors for their solidarity and resolve to join the party.
Earlier, some of the defectors said they resolved to join the party because of their disagreement with the PDP.
They assured Oshiomhole of their support and maximum cooperation towards making APC stronger in Edo.
Mr Ken Ihiensenkhien, who led the defectors, said they were at the Government House to pledge their loyalty to the governor. (NAN)
