Some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Calabar, Cross River on Friday donated some food stuff and toiletries to the Infant Jesus Orphanage.
The items donated to the home include four bags of rice, seven packets of maggi cubes, three cartons of tin tomatoes, salt, groundnut oil and toiletries.
The leader of the group, Mr David Philips, said that it was important to care for the less privileged in the society, adding that the children were future leaders of Nigeria.
Another corps member, Ms Felicia Emeka, thanked the children for receiving them and promised that the group would always remember them in its activities.
Ms Blessing Bisong, an official of the NYSC who accompanied the corps members, encouraged the children to always have a positive outlook to life and be determined to be successful in future.
According to her, “one day, you will also stand as corps members to encourage others.’’
Bisong thanked the corps members for their kind gesture which she described as “rare and humanitarian’’.
Responding, the Head of the orphanage, Mrs Gloria Effiong, thanked the corps members for their magnanimity, adding that in spite of their meager allowances, they were able to remember the home.
