ENUGU – Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has told road users to show sufficient restraint on the roads, especially as the yuletide season draws near.
Oyeyemi made the call during the graduation ceremony at the FRSC Academy on Wednesday in Enugu.
He advised road users to be committed to the success of the campaign, noting that the FRSC alone was incapable of shouldering the responsibility without the joint efforts of stakeholders.
The corps marshal expressed the commitment of the management of the commission to providing succor to all road users through effective collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
He said that the training of officers of the commission was as result of collaboration between the World Bank and the FRSC.
He commended the Anambra Government for being the first state to send its personnel to the academy for specialised training as traffic managers.
The Board Chairman of the FRSC, Mr Felix Chukwu, applauded Oyeyemi for harnessing the support of the World Bank to carry out capacity building for the staff of the commission.
A total of 213 FRSC officers graduated from the academy after receiving six months training in capacity building.
One of the trainees, Mrs Dorathy Okorie, from Lagos said she felt so delighted to be among the graduates, adding that she would try her best to implement all that had been taught to ensure safety on the roads.
Another participant, Mr Christoppher Esien from Akwa Ibom, described the training as a wonderful experience, saying that he would make sure that he impacted the knowledge he got from the academy to others at his station. (NAN)
