MINNA – Former Commissioner for Commerce and Investment in Niger, Alhaji Abubakar Bello, has joined the race for the state’s governorship position come 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
At a grand rally in Kontagora, Bello said he would address the lingering social and economic problems bedevilling the citizens, adding that the time for change is now.
“It is time for Niger State to restore its lost glory and reclaim its prosperity, selflessness and uncommon services. It is my fervent intention to do something about this ugly scenario’’, he said.
The former commissioner said he would offer selfless, effective and people-oriented service to the state if elected.
Bello added that a programme of massive job creation would be put in place to address youth unemployment as well as prioritise women and girl child’s health care and education.
The aspirant said that an APC government in the state would foster a peaceful and harmonious co-existence among the diverse peoples of the state.
“The time has come for us to make a choice; to stand for and choose hope over fear, unity and pride of our purpose over conflict and crisis and humanity over the ills of injustice and maladministration’’, he said. (NAN)
