Lagos – The police, on Thursday, brought a 26-year-old man, Friday Amaefule, before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for alleged stealing of three batteries of tricycle.
Amaefule, whose address was not provided, is being tried for stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Ishola Samuel, told the court that the accused stole the batteries overnight from where they were kept at No. 5, Ebole St., Jibowu area of Agege, Lagos, on May 25.
The prosecutor said that the stolen batteries belonged to Mr Oloyede Taiwo and Adeshina Apesin.
He said that the security guard caught the accused in the act, consequent upon his arrest.
The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Although, the accused pleaded not guilty, Section 287 prescribes three years jail term for offender.
The magistrate, Mrs A.I. Abina, granted the accused bail in the sum of N45,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until June 18 for hearing.
