Vice President Namadi Sambo, on Thursday appealed to the opposition parties to allow democracy to thrive in the country. Sambo made the appeal in Abuja at the inauguration of a sixty-man People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Committee for the Nov. 16 Anambra Governorship election. The Vice President, who is the chairman of the committee, also advised opposition parties to avoid actions that could truncate the nation’s democracy. He said the PDP on its part would ensure that all elections were free and fair in line with President Goodluck Jonathan’s efforts to ensure one man one vote. The Vice President said the campaign committee would work tirelessly to ensure victory for the PDP . “We have a strong battle, but we will win this battle in God’s wish,” the Vice President said. He appealed to aggrieved party members to bury their hatchet and return to its fold, stressing that this was critical to ensure that the party reclaimed Anambra in the election. Inaugurating the Committee, the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, said, “with the determination of all of us, we don’t expect less than victory as far as Anambra is concerned. “Having done a free and fair primary, we say it is not about the messenger, but the message. “The message is PDP. Forget the person. We are presenting our party to Anambra people.” Tukur said.
The PDP National Legal Adviser, Mr Victor Kwon would serve as the committee secretary.
