Sango-Ota – An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Tuesday remanded a 33-year-old man, Idris Ayodeji, in prison, for alleged armed robbery.
The accused, whose address was not given, is being tried on a three-count charge of armed robbery, conspiracy and stealing.
Senior Magistrate G. E. Akan, ordered his remand until Aug. 28, and also ordered that the file be taken to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Rosemary Samson, had told the court that the accused and others still at large, committed the offences on March 23, at about 6.30 a. m. at Pean Estate, Lafenwa, Itele, Ota, Ogun.
Samson alleged that the accused and his accomplices conspired to rob the complainant, Ogundare Feyisayo, of his jewelry and other valuables, valued at N174,000.
She told the court that the accused and his accomplices allegedly used dangerous weapons like knife to dispossess Feyisayo of his belongings.
Samson said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 1(2)(b), 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11,Laws of Ogun ,2004.
