LAGOS – Two men, Are Tunde,18, and Lekan Balogun, 20, on Wednesday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’’ Court in Lagos for alleged theft of a motor bike, cell phone and assault.
The accused, who are residing in Ojo area of Lagos State, are standing trial on a three count charge of unlawful possession, assault and theft.
The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 22 at 9.00 p.m. at Hakete, Imude in Ojo, a suburb of Lagos .
According to Eze, the accused persons stole a Bajaj motorcycle with Registration number JBD 778 VW worth N114, 000, a Techno cell phone worth N8, 000 and N20, 000 cash.
He said that the accused stole the items and the amount from one Mr Godwin Sale in violent circumstances.
“The accused assaulted, beat and caused bodily harm to Sale, carted away his motorcycle, cell phone and cash,” he said.
Eze said that the offences contravened Sections 171, 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the three count charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Taslimi Shomade, granted them bail in the sum of N150, 000 with two sureties.
Shomade directed that each of the sureties must produce evidence of payment of four years’ tax to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till Dec. 12 for mention. (NAN)
