Abuja, – A 29-year-old businessman Chidebere Chukwuma, was on Thursday docked in a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, over alleged breach of trust, but was granted bail in the sum of N50,000.
Chukwuma who resides at Lagos Street, Garki Abuja, had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating, levelled against him.
The judge, Alhaji Ahmed Ado, granted the defendant N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
Ado said that the surety must be an executive member of Venture Association, Utako, Abuja.
The judge adjourned the case until Sept. 19, for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Judith Obatomi, told the court that one Nwanzi Innocent, of Angwan Shehu, Karmo Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on Aug. 13.
Obatomi said that the complainant reported that sometime in June, he entrusted meat worth N87,500 to the defendant to sell.
He allegedly sold the meat but did not remit the money to the complainant.
Obatomi said that during police investigation, he confessed to have received the meat, adding that the offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
