Lagos – An an unemployed man, 46-year-old Rasheed Yusuf, has been remanded in Kirikiri Prison for allegedly
robbing a woman of her Toyota Camry car at gunpoint.
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court which gave the order, said the accused should remain behind bars pending advice from the State
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The Chief Magistrate, Mr J. A. Adegun directed that the case file should be forwarded to the DPP.
The accused, who resides at 3 Olajide St., Itire, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, stealing and unlawful possession of arms.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 2 at 1 Olive Church St., Okota, Lagos.
Ogu said the accused and his accomplice went to the shop of the complainant, Mrs Ruby Unuigbe, on the pretext of buying some
recharge cards.
“They pointed gun at her, collected her handbag that contained recharge cards valued at N45,000 and her Toyota Camry car key.
“While the accused was driving the car outside the premises, the woman raised an alarm and he was apprehended while others
escaped.
“At the police station, a pistol was found in the accused’s pocket, “he said.
The offences contravened Sections 295, 297 and 330 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The case has been adjourned until Sept. 17.
