PANKSHIN – Mr Samuel Goar, Chairman of Pankshin Local Government of Plateau on Friday commended the Federal Government and INEC for the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The chairman made the commendation at Katnyil in Wuseli village of Pankshin while flagging off the distribution of the PVCs in his council.
“The Federal Government and INEC deserve commendation for making it possible for Nigerians to have voter cards to perform their civic rights during elections.
“Many governments tried it but failed; today we have seen a situation whereby every citizen is given the opportunity to have a say in the choice of those who will lead him or her’’, he said.
Goar, who described the exercise as peaceful and encouraging, thanked Gov. Jonah Jang for declaring Friday a work free day for the distribution of the PVCs.
According to him, “only a man of passion for the good of the state and the nation could declare a work free day for the distribution of voter cards.’’
“We are all out to support the good will of our able governor.’’
He called on the people of Pankshin to ensure that they obtained the PVCs, which he described as “the only weapon of the masses.’’
The council boss expressed happiness at the peaceful conduct of the people at the collection centres and commended the security agencies for ensuring peace in the council.
The exercise was very peaceful as the people queued up in an orderly manner to collect their cards. (NAN)
