Kaduna – The Nigerian Army, 1 Division Kaduna has commenced training of 195 Warrant Officers and Senior Non Commission Officers to enhance their overall efficiency.
The General Officer Commanding the Division, Maj.-Gen Mohammed Mohammed said at the opening of the training on Tuesday in Kaduna that the aim was to develop their mental capacity and enrich their overall effectiveness.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the training is ‘Enhancing Professionalism Through Effective Leadership by WOs /SNCOs in the NA.’
Mohammed said the training was a deliberate effort by the Army to keep the participants abreast of their responsibilities amidst numerous commitments and security challenges.
According to him, warrant and senior non commissioned officers serve as the bridge connecting the officer cadre with other soldiers.
“This signifies that personnel in this category are to possess instructions passed to them by superiors .
“They equally require attainment of both specified and implied tasks, as well as to possess leadership and management skills.”
The GOC hoped that the outcome of the lectures and consequent interactive session would be beneficial to the participants.
“I therefore urge the participants to exploit this unique opportunity by listening attentively to the lectures as well as to present apt questions and make valuable contributions during the interactive session.”
Major Emmanuel Ogunlakin in his lecture on Enhancing Professionalism Through Effective Leadership, said constant skills improvement and training with the use of technology would enhance service delivery.
Ogunlakin called for improvement in communication among personnel, and eradication of all forms of favouritism in the Army to avoid set back in the discharge of responsibilities.
NAN reports that a total of four papers will be presented during the training.
