2015: Takai joins Kano gubernatorial race

Kano- A former gubernatorial candidate of the ANPP in Kano State in 2011, Alhaji Sagir Takai, has declared his intention to contest the governorship election on the platform of PDP in 2015.

He made the declaration at a news conference in Kano on Saturday.

“I, hereby, formally declare my interest to contest in the forthcoming 2015 elections for the position of governor of our dear state on the platform of our great party, the PDP,’’ he said.

He said if given the mandate, he would give priority to security, agriculture, education, human, economic and infrastructural development and respect for the rights of the people.

According to him, his administration will be under a purposeful leadership to be guided by Shari’a and the rule of law.

“We will lay a solid foundation for security in the state based on a comprehensive system of law and order, so that citizens can pursue their legitimate endeavours in an atmosphere of peace and stability.

“Our human development agenda is anchored on education, health and empowerment.

“At the same time our government will be a compassionate one, fully respecting the rights of all its citizens,’’ he said.

He said his focus on education, if given the mandate, would be to improve the quality of education at all levels and increase access to education to enable the children get qualitative education.

“Let me emphasise, once again, that the bedrock of our contest is the desire to bring about positive change in Kano State and make it the envy of all Nigerians.

He, however, called on his supporters to be of good conduct; peaceful and avoid the use of foul language against opponents. (NAN)
