Lagos, Nov. 28, 2014 (NAN) The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, says the command is set to introduce a new squad to further fight crime in the state.
Aderanti made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the 8th Lagos Town Hall Meeting at the City Hall in Lagos Island on Thursday.
Aderanti said the command was making the innovation to further curtail crime to its barest minimum.
“We are introducing another squad to sustain the efforts that we have presently on ground and we are unveiling it in the next couple of weeks.
“We are also launching “OPERATION MADIBA” in the coming weeks, this will be a comprehensive response to all the challenges that we have with all the hoodlums and the so called `area boys’.
“We are going to address all these because we know they are threats to peaceful existence in Lagos state.
“We will be moving in such a manner that you have never seen and this is what we will be doing in the next couple of weeks.
“We are not only going to launch it but will sustain the efforts so that all these thugs will desist from causing havoc in our environment,’’ he said.
He also said the command would not stop in its responsibility which is to ensure Lagos was free from crime and assured the residents a crime-free yuletide. (NAN)
