ABUJA – The Nigeria Prisons Football Club of Abuja on Saturday lost 0-1 to Mighty Jets of Jos in a Division A week nine match of the Nigeria National League (NNL).
The match, played at the Old Parade Ground Sports Complex, Garki, saw the visitors score the only goal of the match in the 19th minute through their captain Justin Fan.
The visitors, who led from the blast of the whistle, converted a misunderstanding between the goal keeper defender of Prisons FC to net in the goal.
Stunned by the goal, the players of Prisons FC improved the tempo of their game and their left winger Bartholomew Suku delivered a stinging shot in the 40th minute that hit the bar.
Suku came back in the 45th minute with a free-kick that narrowly missed the goal post.
However they could not find the equaliser and remained in the 15th spot in the 16-team league table.
Coach Zibiri Brown of Prisons FC, expressed disappointment with the outcome of the match, saying bad officiating denied his boys of victory.
“We were robbed of victory today on home soil; as several goal scoring opportunities were denied us.
“We might be forced to pull out of the league if the situation continues like this,’’ he warned.
Coach Bernard Ube of Mighty Jets FC refused to comment on the match.
