NASARAWA – The Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State said it would partner with the state government to return all the displaced persons to the area.
The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Aliyu Tijani, made this disclosure on Wednesday when he received a report from a seven-man crisis management committee in Nasarawa.
He said that the crisis between the Agatu , Odegi communities with Fulani herdsmen had negatively affected residents and the socio-economic development of the area.
“I commend the committee for a job well done for identifying the remote and immediate causes of the communal clashes between these communities with a view to addressing them.
“I assure both the communities involved and the fulani herdsmen that the council will implement the report of the committee with sincerity in order to restore peace in the area and the state at large.
“The council will partner with the state government in order to return all the displaced persons to their homes in the interest of peace and national development,” Tijani said.
According to him, the crisis between the Agatu, Odegi communities with Fulani herdsmen, has displaced so many people in the area.
He said that all hands must be on deck to ensure the protection of lives and property in the area and the state at large.
Earlier, Alhaji Ahmed Ogala, the Chairman of the committee appealed to the chairman to study the report with keen interest before its implementation to ensure full restoration of peace.
He enjoined the people of the state and Nigerians at large to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, political and religion affiliation for the overall development of the country.
