OFFA (KWARA) – An NGO, Sustainable Family Planning Providers Association (SFPPA), has advised Nigerians to embrace family planning to curb population explosion in the country.
Mr Olatilewa Oladejo, SFPPA’s Public Relations Officer, gave the advice on Friday at a sensitisation and outreach held at the Nigerian Navy School of Health Sciences, Offa, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara.
He expressed concern at the increasing population of the country due to its effects on provision of amenities to the citizenry.
He said that several Nigerians were producing children without taking cognisance of the negative effects on socio-economic activities.
The NGO’s image maker urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religious or ethnic differences to think deeply on ways to address the challenges from increase in population.
Mrs Rita Dare, an executive member of the association, used the occasion to highlight numerous ways of reducing population through safe sexual intercourse among other methods.
Earlier, Lt.–Cdr. Goke Alabi, the Training Commander, Navy School of Health Sciences, urged Nigerians to take family planning seriously to enable them plan well for their children. (NAN)
