More than 83 groups in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State on Thursday benefited from the state government’s Ramadan gifts.
The groups were made up of artisans, civil servants, students, pensioners and the elderly.
Speaking in Iseyin during the distribution exercise, the Caretaker Chairman of the council, Alhaji Saheed Yusuff, said the gesture was to mark the Ramadan season.
“Gov. Abiola Ajimobi felt it was important to reach out to our people, so, he gave us 400 bags of rice, 500 bags of beans and 500 cartons of milk to share.

“Ajimobi gave us the food items to assist the needy in the society; I want to sincerely appreciate them all for turning out for the exercise, ‘’he said.
NAN reports that beneficiaries were sighted at the council secretariat as early as 8 a. m to collect the items.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke with NAN in separate interviews, commended the state government for the gesture.
They, however, appealed to the state government not to limit the gesture to distribution of food items alone. (NAN)
