Abeokuta- The Ogun Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Olu Odeyemi, said the Ministry of Special Duties would spend N4 billion in 2015 on its capital projects.
The commissioner made this known in Abeokuta on Tuesday, while defending the ministry’s budget proposal before the Ogun House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
Odeyemi said the ministry had concluded plans to ensure the smooth take-off of the light rail project in 2015 as the feasibility study had been completed.
He explained that other special assignments such as airstrip, cargo airport and theme park and the Olokola free trade zone would cost the state government N3.2 billion.
He added that N114 million had been earmarked for recurrent expenditure in the 2015 fiscal year by the ministry.
The commissioner advised Community Development Associations (CDAs) to join hands with the government to energise the transformers that were distributed to the various communities in the state.
He said the state government could not do it alone, considering the economic situation prevalent in the state.
“Let me seize this medium to call on our CDAs to join forces with the present administration to ensure that the transformers are energised.
“We are ready to help CDAs by giving them a token to assist them so that their transformers can be energised and connected to the national grid.’’ (NAN)
