KARSHI (NASARAWA STATE) – A first class Emir of Karshi, Nasarawa State, Alhaji Mohammad Bako, has appealed to Nigerians to continue to pray for the emergence of credible, honest and God-fearing leaders during the 2015 general elections.
The traditional ruler made the appeal in Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of the state, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
Bako explained that Nigeria needed prayers now more than ever before, adding that prayer was the only weapon that would put the country on the right path.
“Ceaseless prayer from all and sundry will give us good, credible, trusted and God-fearing leaders during the forthcoming 2015 general elections”, the royal father said.
According to him, “prayers by both Muslims and Christians have now become imperative as the 2015 general elections were biting the nation’s polity”.
The traditional ruler, however, added that with sustained prayers by the adherents of the two major religions in the country, Nigeria would surely remain a single indivisible entity.
He urged Nigerians to also pray to God to give us leaders who would deliver the country from the high rate of unemployment, poverty and insecurity.
”Anyone, no matter his tribe, religion or the zone he may come from, who will solve Nigeria’s problem, should be the matter of concern now”, he stressed.
Bako also urged politicians in the country to always strive to abide by their campaign promises and oath.
He advised them to avoid amassing wealth at the detriment of the electorate.
He said it would do the country good if politicians would focus their attention on how to better the lives of ordinary Nigerians through execution of various development projects.
The monarch also urged Nigerians to continue to tolerate and live in peace with one another, irrespective of religious, cultural and ethnic difference.
He said that “peace and unity are veritable tools for national development. So, Nigerians must strive to maintain them for the nation to move forward’.’
Bako also urged religious leaders to continue to pray for peace, unity and progress of the country.
The royal father noted that sustained prayers would allow the nation to overcome the “devilish acts” threatening the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria. (NAN)
