BAUCHI – Bauchi State Transport Corporation has paid back the N200 million it borrowed from the Urban Development Bank in 2011, the General Manager, Alhaji Yahaya Tanimu, has said.
Tanimu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Bauchi that the corporation still has N54.5 million to repay.
He said that the money was used to purchase 50 buses that were injected to revitalise the services of the company.
Tanimu, who said the company now has 85 vehicles in its fleet, assured that the balance of the loan would be fully settled in 2015.
He said that adequate security measures have been put in place at its terminus to protect passengers, drivers and other patrons from attack by insurgents.
The general manager disclosed that speed limiters had been installed on all its vehicles, while its drivers were undrgoing periodic retraining by the state Vehicle Inspection Office to ensure safety of passengers.
Tanimu urged officials of the corporation and passengers to always be security conscious and report suspicious movements and luggage to appropriate authorities. (NAN)
