Kano – The Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Kano Office, on Friday said that it had successfully concluded 32 cases between September and October.
The State Coordinator of the organisation, Alhaji Mukhtar Labaran, who made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano, disclosed that the cases comprised 21 criminal and 11 civil.
The Nigeria Legal Aid Council of Nigeria was established to assist indigent, who could not afford to pay for legal services.
The coordinator said that some of the civil cases were resolved out-of-court.
According to him, most of the civil cases were related to default in payment of pension and retirement benefits, mostly by privately-owned companies and Pension Fund Administrators (PFA).
He said that other cases bordered on land disputes, marriage issues and debt recovery.
“Some of the criminal cases handled include armed robbery, criminal breach of trust, homicide, rape and theft,” Labaran said.
