Abuja – Dr Nasiru Gwarzo, the new Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, has promised to create an enabling work environment and support to all staff to achieve the ministry’s mandate.
The permanent secretary said this while addressing the staff of the ministry at a handing over ceremony between him and the outgoing permanent secretary, Mr Edet Akpan, on Friday in Abuja.
Gwarzo, in a statement by the Deputy Director of Press in the ministry, Mr Ibrahim Haruna, said that enabling environment, hard work and transparency would bring about effective service delivery for economic growth.
He urged the staff of the ministry to be dedicated and comply with due process in discharging their duties and promised to comply with due process in the conduct of government business.
He said that while the process of transition was ongoing in the ministry, cooperation was needed by the staff on any grey areas that may require their inputs.
Earlier, the outgoing permanent secretary said that the ministry was key to the success of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s Next Level Agenda in terms of implementation of policies and programmes.
Akpan therefore, urged the staff and unions to give the new permanent secretary necessary support and cooperation to move the ministry forward.
He explained that the ministry had 14 departments and 17 agencies that were focused on supporting government policies and programmes.
He listed the agencies as Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, Bank of Industry, Cooperate Affairs Commission, Standard Organisation of Nigeria among others.
